Whoops, guess those predictions didn’t happen. Just more of the same fearmongering. The financial crises have to become much worse before another war begins.

@MorphicStates “The very fact that he was answering their question makes it clear he wasn’t talking to them?” He knew other generations would need to know the samething and since He would not be here in the flesh it was written in scripture for us to follow. Rom. 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

@MorphicStates “Since he is specifically telling his disciples to learn it, or do you think “ye” (KJV) is so encompassing as to include all mankind?” How does His teachings reach future generations? Through His disciples teachings, He knew their teachings would be passed down and future generation would read them.
January 22nd, 2011 at 3:22 am
@Belongs2Christ “It’s clear He was not speaking to their generation.” Really? So all the references to the people he was actually talking to make it clear that he wasn’t talking to them? The very fact that he was answering their question makes it clear he wasn’t talking to them? He was actually talking to/about some unknown future generation? Fascinating…
January 22nd, 2011 at 3:25 am
@Belongs2Christ Jesus was speaking to his generation, not some future generation. Mathew 24:3 and 24:34 encapsulate the message to his disciples. Your “fig tree” parable even acts as a encapsulation mechanism. Since he is specifically telling his disciples to learn it, or do you think “ye” (KJV) is so encompassing as to include all mankind?
So my point stands. Christians have been waiting for 2000 years for something that was supposed to happen 2000 years ago.

@MorphicStates “If you look at Mark 13:3 it points out that Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately on the Mount of Olives” Yes they ask Him in 4 “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?” so He tells them all the things that must happen before His return, this goes all the way to verse 23. It’s clear He was not speaking to their generation.
January 22nd, 2011 at 4:31 am
@MorphicStates “why did you overlook 24:3, which specifically states “the disciples came unto him…”?” Yes they came to Him asking, after in verse 2 Jesus told them no stone will be left upon the other, they were asking Him how soon this will happen so He tells them all the things that will happen before the end comes.
January 22nd, 2011 at 5:26 am
@Belongs2Christ Taking from the verses that you yourself point out, why did you overlook 24:3, which specifically states “the disciples came unto him…”? If you look at Mark 13:3 it points out that Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately on the Mount of Olives. Even Luke 21:7 which diverges slightly from Mathew and Mark points out that it was someone physically present was asking him, hence “Master, but when shall these things be?” So yes, was referring to his own generation.

January 22nd, 2011 at 6:23 am
@MorphicStates “when ye shall see ALL these things” The generation that sees ALL these signs is who He is speaking to. The ‘ALL these things’ is referring to all the signs given from verse 3 through 31, then in 32 it gives the parable of the fig tree “When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!” This means you tell by the signs given when the time is near.
January 22nd, 2011 at 7:15 am
@MorphicStates
Mathew: {24:33} So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these
things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.
Mark: {13:29} So ye in like manner, when ye
shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh,
[even] at the doors.
Luke: {21:31} So likewise ye,
when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the
kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
January 22nd, 2011 at 7:42 am
@Belongs2Christ I know, you should actually try reading it. Mathew 24:33 is very specific to whom he is speaking to and it isn’t us. Aside from that, the origional comment is also Mark 13:30 and Luke 21:32.
January 22nd, 2011 at 7:49 am
@MorphicStates That is Matt. 24:34 and “This generation” clearly refers to the generation that sees all the signs in Matt. 24:3-34. Easy to take one verse out of context without reading the verses before or after it.

Jesus died for we could have a relationship with him. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to atone for your sins. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice because He lived a life without sin and died for you. He paid the price for our sins. It is a free gift of salvation that God offers to you. Will you accept it? I pray that you find truth in your life. Jesus is the only truth that anyone needs. God bless you as you seek after Him.

“Verily I say to you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things shall be done.”
That was supposed to have been said by Jesus 2000 years ago. And you guys are still waiting?
